Summary

A new edition of “Hell of a Story,” the first climate journalism school in Serbia, is now open for applications. The program is intended for young journalists and content creators who want to engage more seriously with climate change topics. Applications are open until 17 March 2026 at 23:59.

Climate change is increasingly affecting everyday life, yet it is still relatively underreported in Serbian media and often covered in a sensationalist manner. “Hell of a Story” was launched to provide journalists and digital content creators with a space to learn and develop a more informed and responsible approach to this topic by connecting journalistic skills, climate science, and contemporary storytelling formats.

The call is open to journalists aged 22 to 35 speaking Serbian, whether employed in media organizations or working as freelancers, as well as social media content creators interested in climate-related topics. Previous experience in climate journalism is not required, and organizers encourage applicants who may not meet all the criteria to apply and explain their motivation for participating.

The program includes working with experts in journalism and climate science, exploring the most important themes and trends in climate reporting, and receiving mentorship in developing journalistic stories. The school consists of three in-person workshops, which will take place in April, May, and June, along with occasional online meetings throughout the program. Participation is free of charge.

The Center for the Promotion of Science (CPN) supports this edition of the “Hell of a Story” school within the framework of the European project Climateurope2, which aims to strengthen dialogue between the scientific community, decision-makers, the media, and society on climate change issues.
